Christine Matthews / Artist
Christine Matthews has painted for many years, receiving tuition from well-known artist Margaret Brown at Sisters Beach as well as other tutors. Over time, she has developed her own style and passion for mixed media, incorporating collage, acrylic, and drawing pens.
Her work often celebrates domestic life, creating still life and interior scenes that reflect this theme, alongside landscape paintings. She cites Monet and Margaret Olley as key influences on her artistic approach.
An active member of the Burnie Coastal Art Group and Artscape in Wynyard, Christine also serves on the Public Art Advisory Group for the Waratah/Wynyard Council. A multi-award-winning artist, she has exhibited for many years in Tasart, Artex, and other exhibitions. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, New Zealand, and Canada, and she is represented in the North West Regional Hospital and Waratah/Wynyard Council collections.
