June Wilson is a multi-award-winning Tasmanian artist recognised for her expressive realism in pastel. Working across landscape, still life, portraiture, and marine subjects, she captures light and atmosphere with a quiet sensitivity that reveals both technical skill and emotional depth. For June, light is not only a visual element but a language through which she explores beauty, spirit, and the subtle interplay between the physical and the transcendent.
Largely self-taught, June has refined her craft through dedicated study with respected mentors including Leoni Duff and several international artists. She continues to learn from both the masters and contemporary painters, approaching her practice with discipline and a deep sense of purpose. Her art reflects her spiritual perspective on life—rooted in peace, reflection, and the search for joy.
From her studio in the rural town of Latrobe, in Tasmania’s North West, June paints and teaches in an environment that mirrors the calm simplicity evident in her work. She believes art can offer a moment of respite from life’s challenges and aims to bring beauty and serenity to those who engage with her paintings. Her achievements include finalist recognition in the Glover Art Prize (2024) and the Pastel Society UK’s Mall Galleries Exhibition (2025), alongside numerous national and regional awards throughout her career.
