Keith Lane / Artist
Keith Lane is a British-born artist based in Deloraine, Tasmania, working across painting, sculpture and printmaking. Formally trained in Fine Art in London, his creative practice has developed alongside a career in architectural drafting, building design and visual arts education.
Since moving to Tasmania in 2014, Keith has increasingly focused on the island’s landscape and coastline. His paintings explore light, atmosphere and the changing character of the Tasmanian environment, influenced in part by the dramatic landscape traditions of artists such as J.M.W. Turner.
Keith has exhibited extensively in London, Sydney, Canberra, Launceston and Hobart, as well as internationally, with work held in private and public collections. He has also undertaken significant public art commissions, including works for Sydney Olympic Park.
His achievements include twice being a finalist in the Sulman Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize. Since establishing himself in Tasmania, Keith has been selected as a Glover Prize finalist in 2020, 2021 and 2024.
Now working full-time as a visual artist from Deloraine, Keith continues to explore the Tasmanian landscape and marine environment through expressive, atmospheric works that balance observation, structure and emotion.
